India Visa Options for Bahamian Citizens
Choose from tourist, business, or medical visas based on your travel purpose to India.
Before You Apply for Your India eVisa
Passport Requirements
Your Bahamian passport is your key document for the eVisa application. Ensure your passport:
- Is a valid Bahamian passport
- Has at least six months validity remaining at the time of your application
- Contains at least two completely blank pages for immigration stamping upon entry to India
- Is machine-readable (has the two lines of characters at the bottom of the biographical page)
Photograph Specifications
Your photograph must meet specific Indian Immigration Authority requirements for facial recognition verification:
- Recent photograph (taken within the last 6 months)
- Front-facing with your face clearly visible
- Plain light-colored or white background
- Color photograph preferred
- Eyes open and looking directly at the camera
- No glasses, hats, or head coverings (unless for religious reasons, with face visible)
Application Accuracy
The information you provide on your eVisa application must precisely match your passport. Common discrepancies that cause application delays or rejection include:
- Name spelling variations (use exactly as it appears in your passport)
- Date of birth inconsistencies
- Passport number errors
- Incomplete or unclear biographical information
Double-check every field before submission. Corrections after submission are not possible — you must reapply with the corrected information.
Restricted Areas & Special Permits
Your eVisa is not valid for visiting Protected/Restricted and Cantonment Areas in India. These areas require prior written permission from the appropriate Civil Authority. If your travel plans include any such areas, you must:
- Contact the relevant Civil Authority well in advance
- Obtain written permission before traveling to those areas
- Carry the permission document with you at all times while in India
Traveling to restricted areas without proper authorization may result in serious legal consequences.
Non-Extendable & Non-Convertible
One important limitation of the India eVisa: it cannot be extended or converted into a regular visa while you are in India. Plan your travel dates carefully based on the validity period of your chosen visa type. If you need to stay longer than your eVisa permits, you must exit India and apply for a new eVisa before returning.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does processing take?
Standard processing requires 3–4 working days. Express processing is available within 48 hours. Processing times depend on the completeness and accuracy of your application. Processing time does not guarantee approval within that timeframe.
Can I apply multiple times?
You can apply for an eVisa multiple times, but you cannot have two active eVisas simultaneously. If you need multiple trips, consider the 1-year or 5-year tourist visa option, which allows multiple entries within the validity period.
What if my application is rejected?
If your application is rejected, you will receive detailed information about the reason for rejection. You can submit a new application with corrected information. We provide expert guidance to help you understand rejection reasons and prepare a successful reapplication.
Can I cancel my application?
You can cancel your application before it is approved, but refunds are subject to our refund policy. Cancellation after approval is not possible — your approved eVisa remains valid until its expiration date.
Do I need to print my eVisa?
No. Your approved eVisa is electronic and linked to your passport number. However, printing a copy for your records is recommended. Present your passport at immigration — the officer will verify your eVisa electronically using your passport information.
